☠ Maria di Angelo's father, who was a diplomat, was a mid-level member of the Fascist Party. Maria suspected Mussolini knew her children were his half-siblings and used her father's connections to flee Italy before the war started.
☠ In America, the di Angeli were treated largely as pariahs due to being Italian at the onset of the second World War.
